Belize With Alvin

I’m Alvin J. Brown—licensed Belizean tour guide, Placencia-born, and San Ignacio-based.

I grew up fishing, hauling ice, and learning Creole before I ever took a tourist on a trail. Belize With Alvin isn’t just my site—it’s my life, shaped into something I can walk and share with others.

About Me

Hi, I’m Alvin. Welcome to My Belize.

I’m a Belizean guide, a father, and someone who still feels a sense of wonder every time I walk into the rainforest or stand among the stones of an ancient Maya city.

I started Belize With Alvin not because I thought the world needed another tour company—but because I believe travel can be more than a transaction. It can be an exchange of respect, curiosity, and stories.

My Story

I grew up in Placencia, back when the village still relied on diesel generators that shut off at night. Some of my earliest memories are of carrying wheelbarrows along the dock to fetch ice or waiting with the other kids for the baitfish to move north, so we could fan them onto shore with coconut palms.

I remember the sound of the sea at dawn, the feeling of salt on my skin, and the way the village would come alive when the shrimp trawlers came in. Those were the days when adventure wasn’t something you booked—it was just life.

Later, I moved inland to San Ignacio. The rivers, caves, and hills of western Belize became my new backyard. I spent years exploring them and learning the stories they hold. Eventually, I realized guiding was the best way to share everything Belize had given me—and everything it continues to teach me.

Why I Guide — And What Belize Means to Me

When I take guests into the jungle or up to a Maya temple, I don’t want it to feel like just another sightseeing trip. I want you to feel a connection to this place—a sense that you’ve touched something real.

I believe Belize has a spirit all its own. It’s in the quiet mornings when the mist hangs low over the river. It’s in the language you hear in the market. It’s in the stories of resilience and creativity that shaped our culture.

My goal isn’t just to show you Belize. It’s to help you experience it the way I have—deeply, respectfully, and with an open heart.

Mission Statement

Belize With Alvin is more than a tour—it’s a living memory map. My mission is to guide people beyond the surface, through rivers, ruins, and rhythms that still speak. This is not just about what to do in Belize. It’s about why it matters.

Most people come for the beaches or the ruins. But if you’re curious about my Belize, here’s where I’ll take you:

  • Placencia – my childhood home
  • Belize City – where my story shifted
  • San Ignacio – where I now guide and raise my kids

Support My Work

I’m currently raising funds for video equipment to capture the stories, wildlife, and voices of real Belize. If you believe in storytelling that goes beyond the tourist surface:

Behind-the-Scenes Questions (FAQ)

Yes. Most of my tours are personalized based on your interests, schedule, and sense of adventure. Whether you’re into caves, Maya ruins, birdwatching, or just want to explore the hidden side of Belize — I can help you build the perfect trip.

I speak English and Belizean Creole (Kriol). Guests often ask about the language, and I’m happy to explain or teach a few Creole phrases on tour. It’s one of the ways I bring local culture into the experience.

My storytelling comes from lived experience — fireheart mornings in Placencia, fishing before school, fixing my first computer without the internet. I don’t just guide tours, I share pieces of real Belize. That’s what keeps me going.

It’s hard to choose, but inland Belize — especially around Cayo — speaks to me. I love the quiet power of the rainforest and the feeling of walking a trail that tells a story. That said, Placencia will always be my first love — where sea grapes, sand, and family made me who I am.
