Billy White holds a special place in our family’s story — it’s where my wife’s mother has her home, which she now calls her own. Since the pandemic, we’ve run our home office here, enjoying the peace and tranquility the village offers. Our son attends school locally, and the village’s location is ideal — perfectly situated between San Ignacio and Spanish Lookout, just west of the Belize River.

Spanish is the predominant language spoken here, providing a wonderful environment for our son to naturally learn another language. Despite its small size, Billy White is home to numerous churches that form the heart of this close-knit, family-oriented community. This contrasts with San Ignacio’s broader mix of Anglican, Catholic, and other denominations. The village also benefits from the support of several churches in the US, a meaningful connection for many residents.

Surrounded by savannah, Billy White is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. Parrots are frequently seen feeding on fruits and nuts in the trees, and we’ve been lucky to spot toucans and even a miniature owl living near our home. These natural wonders add to the village’s unique charm and enrich the authentic Belizean experience we share with our guests.
